Jonathan Breton is originally from Saint Gervais la Forêt, France, and first started dancing at the Brigitte Wattellin Ballet School in Blois.

He graduated from the Superior Institute of Performing Arts of Paris and obtained his French National Ballet Technique Examination at the Paris Opera before moving to New York to further his dance education at the Alvin Ailey School, and then at the Martha Graham School (as an open student).

​

Jonathan performed in several musicals and with many dance companies, including Transcendance Group, Eryc Taylor Dance, Zion Dance Company, Footprints... among others.

He choreographed for la Compagnie de l'Etoile in France for 4 years, and he is now choreographing for AZOTH Dance Theatre, a dance company touring internationally. His work has been presented in the USA, France, Poland, Denmark, Guatemala and in Finland.

Jonathan has taught in 6 different countries, including 6 states in the USA. He is a certified Pilates instructor as well. 

​

In March 2018 at the Quai d'Orsay (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Jonathan was honored to received a national award from the French government and the French medias (lepetitjournal.com and France Media Monde) for his achievements in dance on the international stage. 

​

Since 2019, Jonathan is as well the artistic director of the International Choreographic Festival of Blois, which offers performances, short-film screenings, masterclasses with choreographers, community outreach events, workshop and open stage for local artists and dance schools.
